It is one of the Dylan/Band Basement Tapes songs - as No Shoes On My Feet.

Occurs in John Ford's 1940 file The Grapes Of Wrath as Lonesome Road Blues.

An indication of the way verses were strung together to make songs in the oral tradition is given by a song recorded by Odum (1926), and given the title Goin' Down That Lonesome Road, which includes lyrics familiar in the Dead's repetoire from GDTRFB and In The Pines;
