An extended 2 DVD release of the 1976 full length feature movie. Bonus material includes additional performance footage and 3 documentaries. The movie has been remastered from the original film negative in High Definition, and the original audio has been fully remastered in Dolby Digital 5.1 channel and 2 channel audio.

The contents of the two discs are roughly as follows.

The original movie is centred around footage of the band and crowds at the Winterland shows on October 1974. There is an opening animation sequence and a brief historical sequence in the middle of the movie. The movie includes parts or all of;

A 6 inch strip 35mm film from an actual theatrical print of The Grateful Dead Movie was distributed with copies of the DVD set that were pre-ordered from the Grateful Dead online store.
