Tequila
Composer: Chuck Rio

Tequila was performed by Ratdog, usually as part of a medley with Silvio, between 2005 and 2014. Tequila was played by Nicky Hopkins during at least one Jerry Garcia Band show in 1975.

Tequila was written by Danny Flores who, because of contractual issues, used a stage name he sometime used, Chuck Rio, for the writing credits. The instrumental was first recorded at the end of 1957 by the Flores Trio during a Dave Burgess recording session. The group had become The Champs by the time the recording was released in early 1958. This recording topped the pop and R&B charts in 1958

Tequila became a dance craze and was recorded by many dance orchestra and other groups in the late 1950's and by many groups in many genres in later years. The Champs made the most of the Tequila craze by subsequently releasing Too Much Tequila, Tequila Twist, Tequila '76 and probably others.
