Big Boss Man was first performed by the Grateful Dead in 1966. The song was a sporadic part of the repertoire. The only regular period of performance was between 1969 and 1972 during which time it was played over 40 times. After this period the song disappeared for spells and reappeared for usually ony 1 or 2 performances in some years. The last performance was in 1995.
