All The Good Times Are Past And Gone
Composer: Traditional / ?

Performed by Jerry Garcia, Marshall Leicester and Robert Hunter at the Carlos Bookstall in San Carlos in July 1961. Also performed by the Hart Valley Drifters in 1962 and by Jerry and Sarah Garcia at the Tangent in Palo Alto in May 1963. Performed by the Good Old Boys, with Garcia sitting in on banjo, in 1975.

The authorship of the song is uncertain. Variously credited as Traditional, Ralph Stanley or Charles Monroe. The earliest recording date makes it unlikely that it was written by Stanley or Monroe.

The lyrics used for the version played by Jerry and Sarah Garcia in 1963 are as follows;

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darling don't you weep no more.

Oh don't you see that lonesome dove
Which flies from pine to pine
She's mourning for her own true love
Just like I mourn for mine.

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darling don't you weep mo more.

I wish to the Lord I'd never been born
Or died when I was young
Before I'd seen your two brown eyes
Or heard your flattering tongue.

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darling don't you weep mo more.

Come back, come back my own true love
And stay a while with me
If ever I had a friend in this world
You've been a friend to me.

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darling don't you weep mo more.

All the good times are past and gone
All the good times are o'er
All the good times are past and gone
Little darling don't you weep mo more.
