To Lay Me Down was first performed by the Grateful Dead in July 1970 the first of handful of performances that year. It next appeared in the live repertoire in 1973 and 1974 then again in 1980 to 1983. It emerged during the 1988 to 1990 period and finally for one performance in 1992. In total the Grateful Dead performed the song just over 60 times.
