Notes

The version of Mystery Train on the Jerry Garcia box set All Good Things is a previously unreleased recording for the 1976 album Reflections.

Written by Junior Parker (Herman Parker) and originally recorded by him on Sam Philip's Sun label in 1953. It was Parker's 2nd single on Sun. Released on the 1st Nov 1953 as Sun 192 with Love My Baby on the B-side.

The original release credits just Parker as the writer. Philips acquired 50% of the song in 1954 after Parker moved to another record label. Subsequent recordings credit Parker and Philips.

Philip's suggested the song to Presley in 1955. The Presley version was recorded on 11th July 1955 and released on 1st August 1955 with I Forgot To Remember To Forget on the B-side. It was his 5th single on Sun (Sun 223).

Mystery Train is a rare occurrence in popular songs - a song in which the words of the title do not occur in the lyrics of the song.
