Take Me Out To The Ballgame was occasionally noodled by the Grateful Dead during tuning and delays.

The lyrics of the song were written in 1908 by Jack Norworth, a vaudeville singer and songwriter. The music was written by Albert Von Tilzer, a Tin Pan Alley music writer. The song was performed in vaudeville shows but was apparently not sung at ballgames until well into the 1930's. Norworth wrote a second version of the lyrics in 1927 with different verses but the same chorus. It is this version that is used in the 1949 movie Take Me Out to the Ball Game.

At least one CD release, Diamond Cuts, Vol. 11: Take Me out to the Ball Game, comprises nothing but versions of Take Me out to the Ball Game.
