Sugarfoot Rag was performed by a group that included Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh, Leon Russell, Mary Egan and Doug Sahm on November 23, 1972 at the Armadillo World Headquarters, Austin, TX.

On the original singles the title used is Sugarfoot Rag. On some recordings it occurs as Sugar Foot Rag. The Red Foley single version, with Hank Garland on guitar, reached #4 in the country charts.

Vaughn Horton was born George Vaughn Horton. Writing credits for Sugarfoot Rag sometimes give his name as Vaughn Horton and sometimes as George Vaughn.
