Part of Octopus's Garden was played once by the Jerry Garcia Band in the studio in November 1975. The song was performed a few times by Furthur in 2011.

Octopus's Garden was written by Ringo Starr, with some assistance from George Harrison, and was first released on the Abbey Road album. In 2014 Ringo wrote a children's book called Octopus's Garden based on the song. The book was accompanied by a CD which included a new version of the song and an instrumental version of the song.
