Neighbor Neighbor was performed only once by the Grateful Dead, during a soundcheck, on 26th March 1995. The song was regularly performed by the Garcia/Saunders band and Legion Of Mary in the mid-1970's.

The song usually occurs as Neighbor, Neighbor on US releases and as Neighbour, Neighbour on UK releases.

The best known version of the songs was a hit single for Jimmy Hughes in 1966. Hughes has earlier recorded a version for a 1965 LP. These versions are credited to Huey Meaux who produced the recordings. There are versions of the song by UK groups, also recorded in 1965 and 1966, which are credited to Alton Joseph Valier, who was possibly a Louisiana based songwriter.

Note that this is not the same song as the Neighbor Neighbor written by Billy Gibbons and recorded by ZZ Top.
