Mother McCrees Uptown Jug Champions
Mother McCrees Uptown Jug Champions were a short live jug band that included Jerry Garcia, Pigpen and Bob Weir. The group formed in the Spring of 1964 and played through the Summer of that year. The line-up was;
- Jerry Garcia - guitar, kazoo, banjo,vocals
- Ron "PigPen" McKernan - harmonica, vocals
- Bob Weir - guitar, washtub bass, footcrasher, jug, kazoo, vocals
- Dave Parker - washboard, kazoo, tin cup, vocals
- Tom Stone - banjo, mandolin, guitar, vocals
- Mike Garbett - washtub bass, guitar, kazoo
One live performance by the group was recorded in July, 1964 at the Top of the Tangent in Palo Alto by Stanford students Pete Wanger and Wayne Ott, who were collecting material for their KZSU-FM radio program, "Live from the Top of the Tangent." This recording was released on CD in 1998.

At the end of 1964 Garcia, Pigpen and Weir formed the Warlocks.
