You Know I Love You So
Composer: Ellas McDaniel

You Know I Love You So was performed once by the Grateful Dead with Bo Diddley on 25th March 1972. Until correctly identified by Eric Levy in 2008 this song was usually identified as Wow Wow Hey Hey on Grateful Dead set lists and tapes.

Bo Diddley recorded You Know I Love You So in 1960 but it was not released until its inclusion on the Bo Diddley compilation Road Runner: The Chess Masters 1959-1960 in 2008.

The liner notes of the Road Runner collection describe You Know I Love You So as a revamp of an earlier Bo Diddley song Love Is Strange. Bo Diddley recorded Love Is Strange in the mid 1950's but his version was not released until 2007. Love Is Strange subsequently became a big hit for Mickey and Sylvia in 1957. The music of Love Is Strange (and therefore of You Know I Love You So) is adapted from an earlier Billy Stewart song, Billy's Blues Part 2.
