The original Brazilian song was called Tico-Tico No Fuba with music by Abreu, lyrics by Oliveira. It was introduced in a cartoon, Saludos Amigos, in 1943. An English version, with lyrics by Ervin Drake, was introduced by Xavier Cugat and his Orchestra in the film Bathing Beauties in 1944.
