The Pit And The Pendulum was first published in 1842. An online version of the text of the story can be accessed on the Project Gutenberg site. A free audio version of the story can be downloaded from LibriVox.

There are a number of films based on the story. The best known probably being the Roger Corman version made in 1961 starring Vincent Price.
