Linda Chicana was played by Jerry Garcia with Reconstruction in 1979. On setlists it is often listed as Lyinda.

The song was first recorded by Mongo Santamaria's band in 1969. The band included the song's composer Mark Levine. This recording, which had the title Sheila, was not released until 2000. It was next recorded by East L.A. Car Pool in 1975. This and subsequent versions had the title Linda Chicana.
