It's All Too Much was performed a six times by the Grateful Dead between March and July 1995. The song has also been performed by Ratdog, Phil Lesh & Friends, Missing Man Formation and the Valentines.

It's All Too Much was written in 1967 but was not released until its inclusion in the film Yellow Submarine. The Yellow Submarine LP version is shorter than the version used in the film, which has an extra verse. Harrison said in I Me Mine, "It's All Too Much was written in a childlike manner from realizations that appeared during and after some LSD experiences and which were later confirmed in meditation."

The line 'With your long blond hair and your eyes of blue' is taken from the song Sorrow, a hit for The Merseys and, later, David Bowie.
