The song was originally recorded and released by Howlin' Wolf on a single in 1960 with the title Howlin' For My Darling. It was subsequently re-recorded and released on the 1962 Howlin' Wolf album as Howlin' For My Baby. Both titles are used on later releases. Howlin' Wolf often has songwriting credit on his own recordings.
