The Groom's Still Waiting At The Altar was one of the songs played when Jerry Garcia sat in with Bob Dylan on November 16, 1980.

This song was recorded by Dylan during the sessions for Shot Of Love but it was only released at that time as the B-side of a single rather than on the album. It was subsequently released on Biograph in 1985 and since then has been included on re-releases of Shot Of Love. Dylan briefly comments on the song in the notes for Biograph;

I listened back to the song and I felt it was too rushed. I felt that we'd lost the original riff to the point where it was nonexistent. I listened back to it later, and it sounded okay, but it wasn't really the way I wanted to play it. Danny Kootch played on this and maybe Ringo Starr, I can't remember.
