Believe It Or Not was performed half a dozen times by the Grateful Dead in 1988 and once in 1990. The song was recorded during the Built To Last sessions but was not included on the album. An outtake from the sessions was included on the So Many Roads box set. Robert Hunter comments on this song in Box Of Rain: Lyrics 1965-1993; A C&W lyric reminiscent of the kind of stuff I remember hearing coming from tavern jukeboxes in 1948, when my father would stop in to have a few while I waited out in the car.
