Arizona Lightning
Composer: Robert Hunter

In Box Of Rain: Lyrics 1965-1993 Hunter comments on this song;
This song has been called "a whole forest of wild turkeys" I wrote it in Lake Havasu, Arizona .... while watching the Watergate hearings on TV. Most of the venom is directed at Nixon, but the Alabama backslap line refers to Ted Kennedy getting chummy with Governor George Wallace and his Southern votes as the Republican Party appeared ready to crumble.
Mickey Hart and Keith Godchaux are among the musicians playing on the Tales Of The Great Rum Runners version of this song.

The Grateful Dead possibly recorded this song on August 6, 1973 during the Wake Of The Flood recording sessions. If so this recording has never been released.
