Phil Lesh, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart & Vince Welnick joined Michael Tilson Thomas, the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, and others on June 14, 1996 for a simultaneous performance of the John Cage compositions Renga and Apartment House 1776. Apartment House 1776 was composed during 1976. It was originally performed, together with Renga, during the United States Bicentennial celebrations by six orchestra across the country.
