Hit Parader

Publication date: 1942 to 2008

Hit Parader was founded in 1942 to cover music in the hit parade. One of it's primary functions in it's early years was to provide the lyrics of hit songs. The magazine followed the charts through the 50's and 60's covering The Beatles and Rolling Stones along with other groups of the period. In the 1970's coverage moved away from the charts to some extent and included a wider range of rock groups. From 1984 onwards the magazine covered mainly heavy metal groups.

The Grateful Dead feature in a few issues primarily in the early 1970's.
