Creem

Publication date: 1969 to 1988

Founded by publisher Barry Kramer in Detroit in 1969 as "A rock 'n' roll magazine for the people". Feaured performers in early editions included MC5, Amboy Dukes, Grand Funk Railroad, Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Led Zeppelin, the Stones, David Bowie, and T.Rex. The last issue of Creem was in November 1988,

The strength of the magazine lay in it's writers who at various times included Robert Christgau, Dave Marsh, Patti Smith, Greil Marcus, Cameron Crowe and Lester Bangs.

An online version of Creem was launched in 2004. The Creem web site includes new features and articles plus a history and archive of the original magazine.
