Circus

Publication date: 1968 to 2006

Circus, a monthly US rock magazine, was first published in 1968. Editor and publisher, Gerald Rothberg, had earlier run the magazine Hullabaloo. In its early years Circus covered a wide range of rock music mainly concentrating on what is now described as classic rock. During this early period the Grateful Dead featured in a number of issues.

From the end of the 1970's onward the magazine has for the most part focused on heavy metal groups though there have been periods when other directions were attempted. Circus ceased publication in 2006.
